Training Courses For Lawyers

The following Courses can be used to obtain credits as part of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador's Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Program.  We will provide a proof of completion after the completion of the Course.  

IN PERSON OR ONLINE COURSES 

​Introduction to Digital Forensics 
1 CPD credit

Time Frame: 1 hour
Cost: $100 Individuals  $500 Group Rate

This one-hour CLE presentation is tailored specifically for legal professionals seeking foundational knowledge in digital forensics. The session will introduce key forensic tools and concepts relevant to legal cases, with a focus on practical applications. Topics include mobile device forensics, call detail records (CDRs), vehicle data analysis, and identifying critical digital artifacts.
The course will also feature real-world case studies to illustrate how digital forensic evidence has played a pivotal role in investigations and courtroom proceedings. Whether you're handling criminal, civil, or family law matters, this session will provide valuable insights into leveraging forensic evidence effectively.

Digital Forensics Part 1
2 CPD credits
Time frame: 2 hours
Cost: $300

This 2-hour presentation provides an in-depth introduction to key concepts in digital forensics, tailored for legal professionals. Topics covered include;
  • The technical tools and methods used in digital forensic investigations,
  • Data extractions,
  • Evidence handling procedures, and
  • The interpretation of IP addresses.
Attendees will also explore digital artifacts, databases, and the role of timelines in forensic analysis. The session includes real-world case studies to illustrate how digital forensics has been applied in legal contexts.

Digital Forensics Part 2
2 CPD credits

Time frame: 2 hours
​Cost: $300

Building on Part 1, this 2-hour session delves further into specialized areas of digital forensics. Topics include
  • Common data locations,
  • Anti-forensics techniques,
  • Analysis of cloud storage and social media platforms, and
  • The examination of cellular data.
The presentation also includes a brief overview of Child Sexual Exploitation Material (CSEM) investigations. As with Part 1, relevant case studies will demonstrate the practical application of forensic methods in legal cases.Child Sexual Exploitation Investigations
We recommend that clients who have had no previous knowledge of Digital Forensics complete Part 1 before taking this course but it is not mandatory. 

​Child Sexual Exploitation Investigations

This in-person presentation offers a focused overview of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSEM) material and the digital forensic methods used in its investigation. Key topics include:
  • Identification and analysis of CSEM material
  • Digital forensic tools and examination techniques
  • Reporting procedures and legal disclosure of digital evidence
  • Challenges in handling sensitive material
Case studies illustrating how digital forensics supported investigative and legal outcomes
This session is ideal for professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the digital forensic processes behind CSEM investigations.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Attorneys 
4 CPD credits

Time Frame: 4 Hours
​Cost: $500 Per person

 This 4 hour presentation provides a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and its rapidly evolving role in modern society. The session will explore how AI is influencing the legal profession—highlighting both the opportunities and the potential challenges it presents. Topics will include the ethical implications of AI, emerging legal technologies, and practical examples of AI tools currently in use.
